The right time

Write Over the Weekend inspiration for this time

Sample this: You get inside an elevator, closing the door but then someone hurriedly opens it and gets inside. That someone happens to be the person you wanted to meet all your life! So what will you do if this elevator breaks down for 10 minutes? How will you use this golden opportunity?

I was totally fed up. The dauntless job-hunt, faithless parents, unrequited love, and faltering friends… what else does one need to hang?

The thought of the HR manager who held the interview that day, even brought tears. "What an offence did he make at my marks?" I hissed.

Life seemed to be a bed of thorns.

"If at all, I could meet the man who created me with such a bad fate?" I agonized to myself.

"I must do something… something that would make everyone turn their heads towards me", I vowed to myself, angrily.

The lift opened and I entered in.

I was surprised to see the person standing inside, he was wearing a long white robe, overflowing white beard, a poise imbibed face, graceful eyes and a pleasing smile.

You might have guessed who he might be, but I did not, that too in such a mood.

Nevertheless, he did not wait for me to ask.

"Son, I come from the 'Heaven'!! Blessed you are! You have had the opportunity to stand before me. Come on, I know what all is happening to you... Go ahead and make a wish! Your life could change", his seamless voice caused tickling reverberations throughout my body.

Off went the power. The lift halted.

Ten minutes fastened, and the lift was livened again. I had utilized my opportunity to the best. In fact, I was craving for one.

When the lift opened, I walked out briskly feeling, elated in everything. The person in the white robe was standing puzzled of what do with the lift buttons. I had acquired his powers. He was living my life now.

Up in the seventh floor, the HR manager seemed perplexed of why he had lost his job!

Life seemed to be a bed of roses... Of course, until someone smarter than me grabs one such opportunity like what I got!

Liebsterian queries-1

Long back(not so long, a few weeks back), Shilpa from shilpaview-ideas2.blogspot.in re-nominated me for the Liebster award. I felt immensely happy to receive the award again, from a new fellow blogger, that too from one who addressed me as 'Sister'. I wanted to reciprocate it soon, but took a long while. Thank you Shilpa, it is really a pleasure to read your works, to enjoy your enthusiasm and to answer your questions too :)

Shilpa's questions and my answers:

When and how did the writing bug bite you?

I had chances to be creative, in college as well as in my workplaces, but I started proper writing through blogging only a few months before.

2.What do you enjoy writing...fiction or non-fiction?

Fiction. I always feel that I have to experience a lot more to write non-fiction.

3.How would you describe yourself in one word?

Simple.

4.Do you enjoy reading a book or watching a movie based on that book?

Reading and then watching the make out. It would be real fun.

5.Who is your role model?

I don't have one, but I love to follow my Dad's Ideals.

6.What is that one quality of your role model that you would like to emulate and why?

His unconditional love.

7.After reading WoW posts by other bloggers have you ever thought that you are way better than them?

Not at all. I just wonder how creative people are.

8.And, on not getting a mention, have you felt a tinge of jealousy?

I feel bad, but not jealous.

9.How would you rate your writing on a scale of 1 to 10?

Hard to answer. Probably 4.5!

10.Which famous writer would you like to rub shoulders with?

O.Henry.

Sorry for the delay Shilpa, thanks a ton again and hearty wishes for your future endeavors!!

Dazzling dignity

Driven by anguish and hunger, he snatched the gold chain that bedecked the neck of the woman who stood nearby.

With the woman yelling for help and several others chasing behind, he ran across streets, thrusting the chain carefully in his pocket.

On entering the third street, his eyes froze to see a little girl performing a tight rope stunt, a group of people applauding and a few coins thrown.

The confidence in her body and the poise in her face instilled volumes in him and he suddenly resented for what he did.

She generated an aura of dignity that left him dazzled and feeling his pocket too heavy, he hung his head down.

Last day of life

Write Over the Weekend inspiration for this time

So, what would you do if you are told that today is the last day of your life? Will you hurriedly attempt to do everything in your bucket list or would you retrospect about life up till now, instead? Your blog post should start with the line, “It is 6 in the morning…”

It is six in the morning, a last morning as it should be.

No cries, no conflicts I would hear tomorrow, nothing I would have to resolve, no worries to spare my heart for.

The duties or responsibilities, which I yearn to do or imposed upon, I need not care.

I fancied myself for the mixed emotions that seized my heart, a sickening burden and a relieving sigh, both being extremities.

"I spare you for your children!" the note from God said, and I consoled myself that the outburst of tears was not because I was spared to be fenced in the same old bond in the same old Earth, but because I could not get a glimpse of  the new world I would be in, the Heaven or the hell.

A wish for love!

He elegantly picked her eyelash, gave it to her and said, "Come on, make a wish!"

"Do you believe in that?" she inquired in a surprised tone.

"I don't, but I know you would", he replied smiling.

She placed her eyelash on the back of her hand, closed her eyes, wished, "Let this adorable friend of mine be my love forever and let me get the courage to tell him that I love him!", and then blew it.

While she closed her eyes, he too wished that she made a long wish so that he could admire her charming face without any qualm.

More than a father

Write Over the Weekend inspiration for this time

What if you and your dad wake up one fine morning to find out that your souls have been exchanged? How would it be to live your dad’s life for a day or (more interestingly) for him to live yours?

More than a father....

I glanced at the newspaper. I picked it up hastily, expecting what it would display from the beginning to end, but I had to read it anyway, because 'I am daddy today'! However, as I flipped through it, I found that I had many things to get informed of, ranging from politics to business, except the sports and cinema.

"Your coffee is getting cold", mom yelled.

"What? Coffee. But I want green tea.. ", I spurted out in a flurry, but calmed down myself that mother would be happy for her husband turning health conscious. But, I had been wrong.

"What? What did you say? You think I am a useless fool sitting here and taking orders? Gulp your coffee and wake that lazy idiot up.. It is getting late for me", she yelled again.

I was flabbergasted at the furious response, but I kept quiet, reminding myself that Dad has never encouraged arguments, that too in the mornings.

It required a whole cup of coffee, to calm down the fuming rage that rose to my cheeks.. After all, it was my soul in Daddy's body, I couldn't help the anger. For the very first time, I pitied Dad. Does he keep calm for these sorts of insults? But for what?

Thoughtfully, I peeked into the bedroom to wake him up, fearing that I had to expect a bad revenge, in retort to the worst mornings I had created for him. But to my surprise, he was clubbing the books from the distorted bookshelf. He looked almost ready. I expected to the least that he would have cuddled up in the bed, enjoying the interchange and the adrenalin rush as an excuse to laze down,  but he wasn't.. "Why didn't he?",  I questioned myself.

I retraced back slowly. Now, grandpa was perusing the paper. "When are the election
results announced?", he inquired me, rising his eyeglasses, for the hundredth time.

I gave him a scornful look and before I could start to embarrass the Alzheimer seized poor Grandpa, the dad-turned-grandson emerged from the room saying, "Grandpa, the results are already announced, Mr. Modi is the new Prime Minister, look there should be some news about him", pointing to the newspaper.

I was bedazzled. Even in my body, nothing makes him deviate from his composure, I wondered. Where does he get his patience from?

The rest of the day being in Dad's body was too hard.. It required lots of patience, hardwork and adjustments that I couldn’t afford to handle. But Dad looked calm and simple, whichever work he did, despite his form. A day's time envisioned a new perspective towards the great man, whom I used to take for granted.

The next morning, when I wished him good morning and joined along for a walk, I was looking at Dad with a notched brow, carrying so many questions and more of appreciation, but he gave me an understanding smile in return.

This Father's day, and the soul exchange had enlightened me what it is to be a 'father' and I started to love my father much more for what he is. He had won!
